Below are examples of previous events held, including the Climate Change and Agriculture Youth Summits.
The Climate Change and Agriculture Youth Summits aim to provide an opportunity for young agriculturists to share their perceptions and understanding of climate change and deliberate on what it means for the future of agriculture and for themselves
The two-day events were structured around knowledge, skills, inclusivity, and opportunities to respond to new career paths and help to build greater climate resilience across the sector.
The youth were excited by the recognition that there are endless entry points for individual contributions and actions to respond to climate change and make a difference. Many identified their contribution as researchers, while others would like to become more active in communities to raise awareness and drive collaborative actions that build resilience and reduce greenhouse gas emissions while improving people’s lives.
Three summits have been hosted by the Western Cape Department of Agriculture.
